About the event

Join Oceano Founder & Vintner, Rachel Martin, on a seasonal tasting journey into the earth (and sea!) through wine. Held in the enchanting Makers Space at the Middleburg Community Center, this tasting of five wines and small pairings will bring to life the intimate relationship between wines and the land. For wine enthusiasts and those with curious palettes, this experience will deepen your appreciation for the alchemy of winemaking and the earth that imbues wine with such magic.

Class will be held in the Makers Space located on the third story (up two flights of stairs!) of the Middleburg Community Center. Unfortunately, it is not ADA accessible, but please check back as we will be offering other workshops in the future that are. We thank you for your understanding and hope to see you at MCC soon!

MORE ABOUT RACHEL MARTIN

Rachel Martin hails from Middleburg, VA, where she stewarded her family’s vineyard and winery, Boxwood Estate, for 15 years. In 2016, she started her own winery from scratch. Oceano Wines produces Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with grapes sourced from the coolest—and closest to the Pacific—vineyard in California, in the coast of San Luis Obispo Coast AVA. Rachel is focused on making her wines as sustainable as possible and running her business in a socially responsible way. Her wines can be found on numerous Michelin-starred restaurant wine list and prestigious wine stores.

Rachel completed the Diploma Program in Wine Sensory Evaluation at France’s University of Bordeaux School of Enology. She is a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier, Washington, D.C. and New York Chapters, and was the first woman to be inducted into the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the International Wine and Food Society. She and her wines have been featured in The Washington Post, The San Francisco Examiner, Forbes, Food & Wine, among many others.
